What do I bring to a first lesson?
If you have played before, bring your instrument, bow, and any music that you have worked on in the past year. If you are brand new, bring your instrument and bow; we'll have already been in touch about where you can procure them. All students should also bring a notebook of their choice.

How often do lessons take place?
Lessons are weekly for ease of scheduling and also for student consistency. When students regularly go more than a week without a lesson, they tend to lose direction, motivation, and skill maintenance. Lessons can be for 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

Can parents sit in?
For a first lesson, parents are always welcome to join. After that, as long as the student is in 4th grade or above, I usually ask parents to enjoy their alone time. Success in cello lessons is dependent on the student/teacher relationship, and I find students feel more comfortable being their authentic selves when parents are not in the room. I usually talk to parents after each lesson briefly, and if there are any issues, I communicate with parents right away.

Do you offer remote lessons?
Yes. Over the years, and especially with the pandemic, remote lessons have become more popular. Though they are less efficient in some ways than traditional lessons, they can still be tremendously effective. I help students find the best sound settings on their preferred remote platform (Zoom, Skype, Facetime, etc.)

How much do lessons cost?
Though private lessons on any instrument are an investment, my rates tend to be lower than those you will find at music schools because there is no middleman. Please contact me for specifics. I do my best to make sure cost is not the reason a student does not enroll in lessons.

Can we do a trial lesson?
Absolutely. If you have your first lesson and do not wish to continue, the lesson is on me.
